Being the People of God for the Sake of the World

Being the people of God means to be part of a great multitude of persons past, present, and future, known as the church, persons called out of the darkness of sin into a restored relationship with their maker.  This relationship is possible only by God’s grace through personal faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

As the people of God, we seek to reflect God the Son’s character by God the Spirit’s empowerment in all we do, and through this to bring God the Father glory and fulfill His main purpose which is to reconcile the world to Himself.  Therefore, we are not the church for our own sake, but rather we exist for the sake of God’s saving purposes in the world.  These saving purposes are realized as God’s people live holy lives, love one another, share the gospel, and stand for justice, peacemaking, and compassion toward the needy around us and throughout the world.

Oak Hills Baptist Church was started in 1988 by a dedicated group of people who had the vision of reaching out to the Sioux Falls community.  It was their goal to provide a place where God would be worshiped; spiritual growth would be fostered; and caring relationships would be developed.  Oak Hills belongs to the North American Baptist Conference.
